FAQs
What If My Optic's Dot Doesn't Look Like A Dot?
If the dot in your optic doesn't appear as a perfect dot, it may be due to astigmatism, a common eye condition. Here are some methods to determine if the distortion is caused by your eyes or the optic:
- Switch Eyes: Look through the optic with your other eye. If the dot changes shape, the distortion is likely due to astigmatism.
- Rotate the Optic: Rotate the optic on its axis. If the distortion remains stationary, it’s likely your eyes. If it rotates with the optic, there may be an issue with the optic.
- Camera Test: Cover the objective lens and take a photo of the dot through the eyepiece using a digital camera. Compare the photo to what you see through the optic. If the shapes match, the optic may be defective.
My Optic's Dot Won't Turn On, What Can I Do?
- Check the Battery: Ensure the battery is properly installed and fully charged.
- Adjust Brightness: Increase the brightness to ensure it's not set to a Night Vision mode.
- Warranty Service: If the dot still doesn’t appear, the unit may be defective and should be sent in for warranty service.
Why Am I Seeing Glare?
Glare may occur at specific angles due to the reflective coatings on the objective lens, especially in low light or indoors with overhead lighting. This is normal and more pronounced when the optic is handheld.
Why Does My Dot Look Misshapen?
- Focus on the Target: Ensure you are focusing on the target, not the dot.
- Corrective Lenses: Wear prescribed corrective lenses if needed.
- Reduce Intensity: Lower the dot intensity by 1-2 steps. High reticle brightness in low ambient light will cause a halo effect.
- Astigmatism Check: Rotate the uninstalled optic while viewing the dot. If the shape remains the same, it’s likely due to astigmatism.
My Shake Awake Is Not Working, What Can I Check?
Ensure the optic is left on and allowed to enter sleep mode for Shake Awake to function. Manually powering off the optic disables this feature.
Why Is My Front (Objective) Lens Canted (Angled)?
A canted objective lens is part of the design of a reflex sight to properly reflect the dot back to the user’s eye.
Why Doesn’t My Red Dot Hold Zero?
Check that all screws attaching the mount to the optic and the cross bolt to the gun are secure. If these are not tight, the mount could slip under recoil.
